Steven W. Semes

Steven W. Semes is Professor Emeritus in the School of Architecture at the University of Notre Dame. He is co-editor and translator of New Building in Old Cities: Writings by Gustavo Giovannoni on Architectural and Urban Conservation (Getty Publications, 2024) and author of The Future of the Past: A Conservation Ethic for Architecture, Urbanism, and Historic Preservation (W. W. Norton, 2009) and The Architecture of the Classical Interior (W. W. Norton, 2004). He has contributed regularly to Traditional Building as well as National Trust Forum Journal, Change Over Time, Public Discourse, Common Edge, The Classicist, and ANTA.
