Growing up in a historic home introduced Wright to fine architecture built for a specific setting. Travel and education, with subsequent bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Yale and the University of Texas at Austin, nurtured architecture as a lifelong interest. Prior to forming Douglas C. Wright Architects, he was a partner at Miller & Wright Architects and a principal at Hart Howerton.

At the beginning of his career, Wright worked as an architect/designer with the renowned decorating firm Parish-Hadley Associates and continued with Brian J. McCarthy before pursuing further studies in architecture. He developed his expertise as an associate with Robert A. M. Stern Architects and worked with Ferguson & Shamamian Architects, B Five Studio, and Davis, Brody, Bond.

Wright, a member of the American Institute of Architects and the President’s Council of the ICAA, will soon be publishing his first book, From Hand to Home (September 2025, Rizzoli). The coming volume includes 20 projects showcasing the architect’s ability to blend classical influences with contemporary sensibilities.
