Traditional Building’s 2019 Palladio Award winners announced.
2019 Palladio Award Winners

The 18th annual Palladio Awards competition recognizes 16 firms for outstanding work in traditional design, seven in the commercial, institutional, and public architecture category and nine for residential work. All winners enhance the beauty and humane qualities of the built environment through creative interpretation and adaptation of classical and traditional design principles. The 2019 Palladio Awards program is produced by Traditional Building and PeriodHomes.com and will be presented during the Traditional Building Conference July 16-17, 2019 in Garrison, New York.

The Palladio competition is the only national design awards program that honors achievement in traditional architectural design. The awards are named in honor of Andrea Palladio, the Renaissance architect who created modern architecture for his time while using models from the past for inspiration and guidance. The program applies the same criteria that Palladio used in his own work—projects should meet all of the functional needs of contemporary usage while applying lessons learned from previous generations to create enduring beauty.

“The top firms in classical and traditional design submit projects from all over the country, making this a truly competitive awards’ program, said Nancy Berry, editor of Traditional Building and New Old House magazines. “This year we had a record-breaking number of entrants—our esteemed judges had the difficult task of narrowing down the award amidst so many great entrants. This year we added the categories of Craftsmanship and Interior Design, which brings two new disciplines to the awards program.”

The Palladio awards will be presented at a dinner ceremony during the Traditional Building Conference July 16-17 at Boscobel House & Gardens in Garrison, New York. The 15 winning firms will be featured in the July issue of Traditional Building as well as New Old House and period-homes.com.
