SUPPLIERS ONLINEMonarch Radiator Enclosures
Radiator enclosures not only improve the appearance of a home, they also increase heating efficiency. This may also help reduce fuel costs. Without a cover, the sturdy old-fashioned steam radiator heats a room directly by radiation, warming whatever is in its path. The air around the radiator picks up heat, rises, and makes room for more cold air to be heated. Thus, radiation is supplemented by convection heating. That big hunk of cast-iron radiator retains heat after the furnace shuts off and maintains a more even room temperature than a baseboard heater. Owners of older homes spend considerable time and money cleaning, painting, disguising, or covering radiators. Radiators can be hidden inside of a cover. Apart from its decorative value, a radiator enclosure helps channel the heat away from walls and cold windows. Cold air enters the bottom of the enclosure, warms up, and rises, leaving through the grillwork, louvers, or openings at the front of the enclosure. Since the top of the cover deflects the air away from walls and cold windows. Cold air enters the bottom of the enclosure, warms up, and rises, leaving through the grillwork, louvers, or openings at the front of the enclosure. Since the top of the cover deflects air away from the wall, less heat is lost to the outside of the house. And a fringe benefit is that smudge marks will no longer form on the wall near the top of the radiator. MONARCH has been selling radiator enclosures for many years. They sell directly from the factory, which offers a great saving to the customer. All enclosures are made of heavy-gauge steel in a baked-enamel finish, with many colors to choose from, including woodgrains. Two stock models (square and Ambassador) are fabricated disassembled, with a selection of many sizes. The custom enclosures are electronically welded together with hinged tops.
