Even the best of conventional renovation carpenters are trained to replace work, not to preserve it.Keith Farless, owner of Highland Restoration, Inc., is a graduate of the Preservation Carpentry program at the North Bennett Street School in Boston. He has worked on such important museum quality restorations as Jefferson's summer home, Poplar Forest, executed under National Park Service guidelines. We excel at museum projects, but not every historic building can claim an association with a founding father and US president. We adapt these guidelines to fit the goals and budgets of less well known but equally irreplaceable structures, serving both the well known and the everyday historic architecture of southeastern New England.

We bring to the work a mix of traditional craftsmanship, state of the art wood conservation and a passion for our unique vernacular buildings, high style and low. In order to be fully accountable for the performance of our work, we maintain a full service fabrication facility. In it, we can furnish accurate reproduction of any necessary historic architectural millwork including window sash, doors, period mouldings and staircases.
